Fuji Finepix A610

Saturday, 17 May 2008
Fujifilm Finepix A610The Fujifilm Finepix A610 is a 6 megapixel digital camera with a 3x Optical Zoom and 2.5 inch LCD screen.

The A610 has an ISO range of 100-400 and is compatible with both SD and xD cards to back up its 10 megabytes of internal memory.

It is now easier and more affordable than ever for consumers to capture high-quality, natural-looking photographs at the click of a button. FUJIFILM U.S.A. Inc. today raised both the picture-taking and purchasing power of first-time digital camera buyers with the launch of two new models, the six-MegaPixel FinePix A610 and eight-MegaPixel FinePix A800.

More than half of all digital camera purchases in 2006 were made by first-time buyers. Almost 60% of these first-time purchases totaled less than $200*. Designed specifically for the first-time digital camera buyer or consumers seeking an easy-to-operate upgrade to their current digital camera, Fujifilm’s A-Series models provide users with a choice of digital cameras that offer top-notch image quality at consumer-friendly price points.

The FinePix A800 is the first model in Fujifilm’s A-Series line-up to sport an eight-MegaPixel Super CCD Sensor and the first to incorporate light sensitivities of up to ISO 800 at full resolution. Borrowing a page from Fujifilm’s more advanced camera models, the FinePix A800 shoots at higher light sensitivities with less noise than comparative models. This results higher quality “natural light” photos and less blur in images as the FinePix A800 matches these higher light sensitivities with faster shutter speeds.

Fujifilm’s A-Series digital cameras are among its most popular models and the FinePix A610 should help continue this trend. This camera has the same comfortable design as the FinePix A800 and is priced right for the first-time digital buyer. In a first for Fujifilm’s compact digital camera range, the FinePix A800 and A610 both feature a “xD/SD Compatible slot”, which accepts not only Fujifilm’s traditional xD-Picture Cards, but also Secure Digital (SD) cards.

  • TrustedReviews has posted their review of the Kodak EasyShare V1233 where they write - 'While the V1233 is a well-made, elegantly designed and easy-to-use camera with an attractive price tag for its specification, the woefully slow performance and inferior image quality make it a poor choice. If you really have to have a 12 megapixel compact (why?), then there are better ones on the market for not much more money.'

Kodak Easyshare Z1275The Kodak Easyshare Z1275 is a 12 megapixel digital camera with a 5x optical zoom.

Trusted Reviews has reviewed the Kodak EasyShare Z1275 and writes - 'The Kodak EasyShare Z1275 is a camera with a number of problems and few saving graces. It is heavy and bulky for a compact, build quality is below average, it lacks any real image stabilisation for its longer-than-average zoom range, and its performance and image quality are well below par. The HD video mode is potentially useful, the lens is very good and the asking price is relatively low for a 12MP camera, but I'm afraid that isn't enough to save it. The possibility of a crippling technical problem is the final nail in the coffin.'

Kodak Easyshare V1003The Kodak Easyshare V1003 is a 10 megapixel compact digital camera with a 3x Optical Zoom, and a 2.5 inch LCD. It comes complete with 32 megabytes of internal memory, a maximum of 800 ISO and facial search technology. It also comes in 8 colours.

CNET has a review of the Kodak EasyShare V1003 and writes, "noise and artifacts plagued the V1003's images, softening and obscuring fine details. Photos shot at settings as low as ISO 400 displayed notable amounts of grain, which only grew worse at higher ISO settings. At ISO 1600, static-like speckles completely covered the image, softening all but the largest and most prominent details and rendering it almost completely unusable. ... If you want good-looking, high-resolution images, then choose substance over style, spend a little more, and consider the less stylish but much more reliable Canon PowerShot A640 or SD1000 cameras. They're not as colorful as the V1003, and the SD1000 has 7.1 rather than 10 megapixels, but they're much better designed and offer better image quality."

The compression at the highest image quality is a bit stronger than we would like, and the LCD monitor not as crisp as some others.
